Burning Star Core 'Blood Lightning 2007'CD,Semgma/Giffoni/Metalux LP,
and the Mouthus 2x12" are now all sold out from us. And we only have a
handful of copies left of the limited Prurient cd+5",Religious Knives
CD and the Hive Mind and Consumer Electronics LP's.

here is some descriptions of our new releases:
NFP-26 Thurston Moore 'Sensitive/Lethal' CD
Sensitive/Lethal is Thurston Moore in deep basement cosmosis.
Investigations into acoustic guitar as noise instrument as well as
noise/amp discussion for a hopeful and bright blackness. Childhood
dreams of noise essayed with photos of unsuspecting innocents running
from noise weirdo (front cover) and texas blues albino drug zap
(johnny winter – still alive and well detail – back cover). This is
the story told in drone meditation and sweet slice.

NFP-30 Religious Knives 'Resin' CD
Since their first release for No Fun Productions, the collection of
early LP's/singles entitled 'Remains', the Religious Knives have grown
into a stunningly assured and powerful rock n' roll band of sorts, one
liberally and noticeably immersed in the smoke-addled haze of the
psychedelic underground. Resin marches ahead with a vigorous potency
that accurately shares its bloodline with the best psychedelic acts of
the past. This is Brooklyn's true Psychedelic Rock.

LPs:
NFP-21 Enema Syringe 'live at no fun fest 2007' lp - limited to 350.
Full no fun 2007 live set, recorded to the best possible quality.
Totally insane and heavy set from Industrial/Noise Swedish Pioneer's
Enema Syringe.

NFP-22 Carlos Giffoni/Aaron Dilloway 'live at no fun fest 2007' split
lp. limited to 350.Full no fun 2007 live sets, from Giffoni and
Dilloway recorded to the best possible quality.Total tape mangling,
and Analog Synth destruction.

Moshe 04.10.2008 01:08 PM

DJs for each night have now been announced on the fest page.

Ning Nong, Howard Stelzer,Pieter S.(Wierd Records), C.G. Warrior, Kai
Parviainen(Enema Syringe),Tommi of Finland will all be Djing.

deatails at www.nofunfest.com check it out!

one last big change on the lineup and a few small ones:
Hair Police will be now playing saturday night downstairs, towards the
en dof th enight. Ahlzagailzehguh will now be playing on sunday night,
and Joseph H. and Rick Pots are not goign to be able to do solo sets
on sunday night's second stage due toa scheduling conflict. However
the Dinosaurs With Horns set on main stage friday night is still very
much on!

Tickets are moving fast.... specially the 3 day pass and the saturday
single day, we recommend you purchase your tickets this week if you
haven't done so yet, as the festival date gets closer there should be
a substantial amount of local press showing up about it and we expect
whatever tickets are left then to fly out.

now some hotel recommendations if you still haven't taken care of that:

your best cheap option is the days inn in brooklyn, which is

Days Inn Brooklyn
437 39th Street
Brooklyn, NY 11232
800-916-4635

is only a few blocks from the yellow line (r/n/q/w) which will take
you to the canal st. stop in Manhattan which is only a few blocks away
from the venue.

there are also lots of hostels/shared bathroom hotels in the city that
are in expensive that should be able to find in a search on any of the
major travel sites.

now if money is not a problem for you we suggest any of the following
which are all relatively close to the venue but are really pricey that
weekend:

Sohotel
1-800-737-0702
341 Broome St
http://www.sohotel-ny.com/

Holiday Inn
212.966.8898
138 Lafayette St

Cosmopolitan
212-566-1900

Off-Soho Suites 212.353.0860

Carlton Arms 212.532-4100

Skyline Hotel - 49th & 10th - 212.586-3400 (

Hotel Deauville
103 East 29th St
212.683.0990
800.333.8843
http://www.hoteldeauville.com

The closest and by far the nicest hotel is the Tribeca Grand or Soho
Grand, but they are really pricey:

http://www.tribecagrand.com/
less than 5 mins walking from the club

http://www.sohogrand.com/

SEE YOU ALL NEXT MONTH!
----------------------------------------------------------

Visit www.nofunproductions.com to get the altest no fun productions
releases. Giffoni/Dilloway Split LP and the Enema Syringe LP are
almost gone!

Thurston Moore 'Sensitive/Lethal' CD and Religious Knives 'Resin' CD
are piling up critical acclaim and you should get them both if you
haven't yet, we are super excited and proud of how great they came out.

Finally if you are searching for some of the out of print releases on
the label we recommend you take a look at Fusetron: fusetronsound.com
as they have copies of a lot of the LP's that are sold out from US.
Including the Pita LP, the John Wiese LP, and the
Smegma/Giffoni/Metalux Collaboration among others....

oshea/moloney duo
uneven universe
+ maybe 1 or 2 more....

see you this weekend.

tesla69 05.14.2008 01:10 PM

if its sold out at the KF that means its oversold...gonna be packed in like the self satisfied herd we are.

it'd be great if there was a schedule for the KS sets...

agoston 05.14.2008 01:42 PM

HEY!

VERY IMPORTANT - the ticket structure for No Fun Fest was made out so that the club isn't OVERSOLD on ANY night. There was a limited amount of tickets available for both 3-day passes and individual days. No Fun Fest required this of the Knit. I know, because I booked the dang show myself!

So we're hoping everyone can move around easily, from the different floors and not be too crammed in. Might be full when Cluster is on, or any of the 'headliner' acts but we aren't selling as many tickets as we normally do, for
this purpose specifically!!! WHICH IS A GOOD THING!

Friday is almost Sold Out (30 tix left) - that is the night Thurston is playing,
there are still a good amount of tix left for Lee's night (SUN) and SAT is definitely sold out - although there may be a couple tickets left at Academy Records in either Brooklyn or the East Village. Might wanna call ahead!

Again - this is ALL AGES too.

There will be cards and posters w/ ALL the SET TIMES and schedules.
I might post it up here for your reference too.

Thanks, hope to see all of you guys there. I have a long beard and long
hair. Like 80% of the people who will be in attendance.

agoston- thanks for that info.

batreleaser 05.15.2008 09:09 AM

Hey respect, man, that you guys even considered this an issue.

I just wanted to mention a couple events that might be of interest to visitors - the only street fair in Manhattan that holds much interest to me happens this weekend on 7th between 3rd and 2nd, its the Ukranian Streetfair and features lots of delicious perogies and keilbasa etc and if you get a chance to see the kids dancing in their costumes its something
- Metropolitain Postcard Club has their spring show Fri - Sun at the New Yorker Hotel on 34th St at 8th Ave, if you have any interest in collecting old postcards you won't want to miss this, I'm a member so I'll be there Saturday, unless I'm still tripping from Fri nite from all the aerosol lysergix

i like analogue carlos a lot more than digital carlos.

arrogance and synth destruction with merzbow are fantastic.

deflinus 05.15.2008 07:59 PM

i thought i wasnt going but i just recently found out that i can. i wanted to bring someone but the friday show is sold out!

what are the chances of me getting a ticket at the door? do i have to show up really early?

top 40 squeeze 05.15.2008 09:42 PM

I went to the Knitting Factory yesterday and they had tickets for day 1 and day 3... don't know if that will change by tomorrow... i imagine you'll still be able to get in... Academy Records on 12th between 1st and A had tickets for day 2 which i also bought one of... All together the prices were $18, $20, $18 which totals 56 not that much more expensive than the sold out $50 3 day pass. And probably definately cheaper then getting reamed by Ticketmaster.

thanks for the info. well if they still had tickets, then i guess i should be able to get some. ill go early

agoston 05.16.2008 04:05 PM

Sunday is now the only date that is NOT sold out, but might very well sell out by tomorrow morning - since tonite is the first night of the festival. Thurston's festival starts at 5pm too at the K Gallery .. which is now, I'm out...

Moshe 05.17.2008 12:14 PM

KS Art presents NOISE/ART a group exhibition curated by Thurston Moore of Sonic Youth. This show represents the living phenomena of underground noise musicians who work contemporaneously as visual artists and who utilize the ephemera and product of noise music, both improvised and composed, as a primary forum for their expression.
Noise, experimental, avant-garde, no wave, post-punk, art-rock etc has always had a distinct relationship with art-world history. Today’s noise music scene distinguishes itself as a community sharing ideas through the immediacy of internet connectivity and the raw tradition of playing shows in basements and rented spaces across the country and around the globe.
The visual aspects of this scene are in equal measure to the music as a primary aspect of the performance is a merchandise table of cassettes, private press LPS, fanzines, clothing, art-books etc as well as the noise gear itself: amplifiers, instruments, noise making machines and implements all having the artists’ personal yet shared aesthetic involved. NOISE/ART while international in scope can only be a sampling of this high-energy sub-strata of artists as it is mutating constantly in the underground.
Artists presented in NOISE/ART: Dennis Tyfus, Maya Miller, John Olson, Noise Nomads, Bill Nace, Leslie Keffer, Chris Forgues, Alivia Zivich, Chris Pottinger, Nate Young, Robert Beatty, Nathan Bowers, Charlie Draheim, Dylan Nyoukis, nik rizili, Mike Haley, Matt Heyner, Kim Gordon, Kate Csillagi, Twig Harper, Adriane Schramm, Marcia Bassett, Pat Maher, Max Eisenberg, Carly Ptak, Mike Connelly, Carol Sandlin Kelly, Sam Mckinlay, Heath Moerland and Angela Messina.
Concurrent with the opening weekend of the show will be live performances in the gallery by a select group of noise musicians/artists.
In 2009 Picturebox Books will publish NOISE/ART as an artists book edited by Thurston Moore. The book will be primarily a visual survey of the art as presented by noise musicians as displayed on the thousands of arcane and obscure cassette releases the past decade.

hey all, brief rundown of the first night of NO FUN at the Knit last night. it was a good one. great vibe, great crowd. despite the rain, it's beautiful outside now so Sat & Sun should be double-no-fun. anyway, thurston's
gallery show was good - packed room across the st. at the ks gallery, interesting minimalistic music-sets + art from various folk. i do know,
thurston will be performing at the ks gallery on sunday.

i caught a good amount of the sets at the knit - but was hangin' out most
of the time. thurston/nancy garcia was ripping. tony conrad was aight, but
a few friends of mine were kind of dogging his set a bit. lee & kim were
both in the house. various esctatic peace heads, as well.

again, great night + tonite and sun should rock hard. see u there....

cunts.

what about the non-sy/ecstatic peace sets? how was that?

agoston 05.17.2008 01:01 PM

loud, skree-ching, shuddering, the 2nd act on the main stage forced a whole bundle of celery stalks in his mouth. sickness was heavy as shit. i'm probably not the best gauge though, i was running around a lot

Everyneurotic 05.17.2008 01:06 PM

ahhh, yeah i saw the pics of randy yau

Georgekrz 05.17.2008 01:24 PM

Workbench (who opened the night) is the girl and guitar player from Religious Knives.

White Out played with Carlos Giffoni and C. Spencer Yeh

the guy who was eating and vomiting celery stalks was ridiculous (Randy Yau)

Tony Conrad, I think the main problem the set was too long. I think it would have good set for a sit down at Issue Project Room, but at that time of night with a bunch of tired people in the room? It was just not the best situation in that sense.

I think Thurston/Nancy Garcia, was best set of the night (though I didnt see all the sets downstairs).

Everyneurotic 05.17.2008 02:17 PM

i was afraid things would be like this this year, with so many drone acts instead of noise...perhaps tony should have headlined the downstairs stage?

like sticking variety on a metal festival.

i wasnt to big on arrogance, but i think the concept is hilarious, giffoni basically sayin, "yes, i am a narcissist who happens to make extreme music, so fuck you im makin a whole ablum about this".
synth destruction i figured was good because of the merz.

Georgekrz 05.18.2008 12:50 PM

Hair Police last night destroyed, prob one of the best sets of the festival so far.

great shows across the street as well- Dead Machines, Sick Llama, Marcia Basset and others, some names I forget. Apparently Kim Gordon played there on friday but I missed it.

i got to meet thurston moore on friday. it was crazy. kim too

tesla69 05.19.2008 08:52 AM

Anyone know what the gallery lineup was yesterday? Was that Bill Nace who played with Thurston and Flaherty? I think Uneven Universe played 2nd. but the first guy with the tatoo on his head I didn't know.

Georgekrz 05.19.2008 09:46 AM

yeah that was Bill Nace, however who was the second drummer who played with Lee, one of them was Tom Surgal, the other one I didnt recognize.

Also, I have to say it, I think The Haters set to end the fest was bullshit. what was the point? to get us to storm the stage so they would stop pushing that woman around? they did some violence to a woman and we just stood there like idiots and watched? Fuck them, I feel bad I was part of that little theater.
