nicfit 05.02.2009 07:49 AM

PAULYBEE2656 05.02.2009 07:55 AM

jools doesnt ask anyone...he is the creator of the world yknow!

mil_pl 05.02.2009 07:57 AM

teenage riot is without any energy.. I like sacred trixter and antenna on here though.

PAULYBEE2656 05.02.2009 08:07 AM

riot aint that bad to be honest... a bit sterile but then again its 20 years old and in a tv studio... new tracks did rock tho

greedrex 05.02.2009 08:15 AM

just watched these on youtube. The new tracks are killaz. Teenage riot was more like "Geriatric rebel" or something. Awesome.

PAULYBEE2656 05.02.2009 08:17 AM

Id Like To See The 2009 Sy Blast Into Inhuman Or Brother James On Jools Holland But Then Again, They Know The Audience Better Than Anyone...

RanaldoNecro 05.02.2009 09:22 AM

Is that the custom TM Jazzmaster that Thurston is using?

SpectralJulianIsNotDead 05.02.2009 10:49 AM

Toilet & Bowels 05.02.2009 11:15 AM

Seriously, he was most likely taking the piss. As in it was a fair while ago and the like.

PAULYBEE2656 05.02.2009 02:20 PM

17 YEARS AGO ACTUALLY.... man that makes me feel old....

SpectralJulianIsNotDead 05.02.2009 02:44 PM

Live version of Antenna was missing something on that opening chord of each verse, but otherwise very good.

It's his original one that was built for him by a tech that the Fender one's are "supposedly" going to be based on. I doubt they'll ever happen, though.

Chris Lawrence 05.02.2009 07:04 PM

ah okay, thanks for the info. oh, and you doubt wrong. ;)

Sonic Youth 37 05.02.2009 07:28 PM

Don't get me wrong, I hope they happen and I'll be broke from shelling out around $2k for the both, but I've lost all faith in Fender.

firstfan84 05.03.2009 05:33 AM

Any idea what (new) tunings they are using. According to a recent setlist i have Kim is in CGDACD in "what we know".

Thanks Stu!

andrei 05.03.2009 11:45 AM

Hei Stu, will you upload the first broadcast (containg What We Know) too?
If so, i can make an authored version containg all four songs and seed it on Dime,Zomb, etc.

stu666 05.03.2009 12:06 PM

Hey andrei, check here http://www.sonicyouth.com/gossip/sho...t=20513&page=6 ;)

Diesel 05.03.2009 02:11 PM

I didn't realise that the friday show has none of the performances from the first show. Was bleddy confusing trying to make sense of it all after seeing the first screening and after guzzling a few too many bevies. Nice surprise to see them play four songs altogether like, after expecting only two.

The Lilly Allen bashing is justified in my eyes after she kicked a local musician i know out of her band for seemingly hypocritical reasons. Drinking, taking drugs, partying too hard, when she herself is no stranger to the white lady. When he was still in the band i asked him where Lilly was to which he replied 'getting fucked'. My thoughts exactly.

SonikJesus 05.03.2009 04:56 PM

Finally got to watch these. Very awesome songs and Kim on guitar. Awesome!!

Clive 05.04.2009 10:40 AM

Youtube links incase anyone hasn't seen em yet...

What We Know - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZVlveLlgBs8
Sacred Trickster - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dJSuOjjUyGQ
Antenna - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hT8rTZhtgAI
Teenage Riot - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A_XiXv9Y210

greedrex 05.04.2009 10:55 AM

^^ yes these were great. Thx a lot.

EVOLghost 05.04.2009 11:34 AM

omg.

LifeDistortion 05.04.2009 02:05 PM

Good stuff. I think the slow songs are pretty good. What some critics think is boring. I think a slow, melodic song like this allows them to show off thier song-writing more, they tend to be more lyrical then thier more rocking songs.

sarramkrop 05.04.2009 02:19 PM

Antenna and What We Know are pretty great on this, and even Sacred Twister, one of the two songs on the record that I don't like, sounds much better live. Teenage Riot was good too.

automatic bzooty 05.04.2009 02:35 PM

lee singin' on teevee. finally. yay. what we know and antenna (especially) were great. i dunno about sacred trixter - maybe i'm sacred trixter'd out by now?

"...nineteennffnfnee"?

also: what's that box lee's on during antenna?

greenlight 05.04.2009 03:51 PM

i think Sacred Trickster is amazing on it. I mean sounds so MUCH better then on streaming thingy.

joe11121 05.04.2009 03:55 PM

They all sound so fucking amazing

nicfit 05.04.2009 04:04 PM

I think that one of the things that I like about this record/these songs is that hearing the tunes seems like they're happy playing them, and I'm glad they're happy, so I'm happy too.

Skuj 05.04.2009 04:31 PM

Teenage Riot, 21 years later, hahaha....I fucking love it. Thank God for Sonic Youth.

The new songs sound great. I hadn't heard them until Jools. (Apart from Trickster.)

It's been seen a couple of times this year in Thurston's hands, but I'm not aware of any photos or footage showing Lee using the blue signature Jazzblaster yet. I'm a "me too" regarding the desire to own one or both of these, here's hoping that Fender release them soon.

Tokolosh 05.05.2009 02:17 PM

Finished putting together a DVD of all 4 songs.
I'm uploading it now onto UTKONOS.ORG's server using FTP.
The 1.3 GB file should be ready in about 3-4 hours.
I hope there's enough space on there...
Let me know if it's a problem and I'll stop uploading it.
Enjoy.
