That was such a good idea to state that, since then the weather has been gorgeous.
See you tomorrow!

soooooooo annoying

pokkeherrie 08.29.2007 10:17 AM

yeah, they have azerty instead of qwerty and on top of that the symbols and function keys are all weird compared to qwerty keyboards as well.

Bal 08.29.2007 06:52 PM

i cant type here its so annoying but this was deffinetly one of the best ever sonic shows
wasnt it sonic L?
more than 2 hours long sonic improw crqziness including some ddn and rr songs and a houlf hour long expressway outro...
:-O

was honoured to meet some of the boardies there

greenlight 08.29.2007 07:02 PM

the show was megafantastic. first they played around 50 min. instrumental stuff with Michael Doneda, Jean Marc Montera and Mats Gustafsson , obviously with Mark a well. Then they played as Sonic Youth with Express Way as an encore with whole assemble on the stage I just mentioned. Despite some technical difficulties here and there; great sound. Setlist what I can remeber now was:

Sprawl
Word Looks Red
Croze The Breeze
Pink Steam
Jams Runs Free
Hey Joni
First song from the Trilogy
Do You Believe in Rapture
Expresway as encore - long outro - fantastic

and others I cant remeber now.

Opening by Han Bennink and Mats Gustafsson.

Great venue.

Met boardies. Really nice guys. Lalie; Bertrand - thanks for cd man; Sonicl - really looking forward yr. vid.; Racehorse - where r u from again ;-); Bal - you got yr. express way man!

I hqve recorded whole show. What I have heard so far from it sounds GREAT guys. By the way Sonicl should hqve video of first part.

Fecking french keyboard. Going sleep, really tired. Rest of the setlist and more reviews, also pictures, sounds and video soon. From Paris with love.

Great you had fun guys, it's sooo nice to know that so many boarders were there enjoying the show and "documenting" it, can't wait for more reviews and the "media" stuff :D!

Moshe 08.30.2007 12:27 AM

toxic johnny 08.30.2007 12:42 AM

Hello, thanks for the setlist... I must be too old to be able to give the title of every SY song I hear (I was able to do that some 5 years ago)...
Note that opening was by Peter Brötzmann and Mats Gustavson. Han Bennink was booked somwhere else on the same evening.

sonicl 08.30.2007 05:20 AM

Just got home. 'twas excellent. Expressway kicked ass, as our American friends like to say.

me too...

Just checked the vid, which is just of the opening improv - quality isn't too bad, but as is traditional for me, I ran out of memory before the end. There's still 37 minutes of it though. (Note to self - you need to get a 4GB memory card)

I'll put it on a dvd later and send it off to Tokolosh so that he can do whatever it is that he does to it, then I'll stick it up on Sendspace.

yeah, can cleary hear it in my recording. you and racehorse are all over it in between the songs :-), even sonicls comment (dont know what he ment tho) after Thurston saying: electricity is mysterious :D .

I listened to recording. some priceless moments on it. especially DN songs and its noisy outrous - short but Amazing. shifting between Wonder and Do You Believe In Rapture is a bliss. Expr. way is something extraordinary in such a version. it's like half an hour or even more with total freeform, impro, noise, jazz, you name it. o yeah, Thurston dedicated Expr. Way to Rhys Chatman. I think it turned out to be very good recording, especially sy+guests part, coz audience was Really quiet, hehe.

why we didn't mentioned meeting Lee on the pedestrian crossing yet sonicl ?

nicfit 08.30.2007 06:44 AM

greenlight, could you "disclose" some details on the recording equipment you used? Just curious.

Moshe 08.30.2007 07:04 AM

I know that Rhys Chatham was invited by lee yesterday to the show.

andrei 08.30.2007 07:15 AM

The recording is up on Dime but with a little error... Maybe another version will come out...
