Nice, I paid a fair bit more for both of those.

Out of interest, how much did the Satan Is Boring that was mentioned go for?
I haven't been watching eBay lately, but scored two copies of that in quick succession a couple of years back (both from eBay Germany I believe)

It was the last LP released on Geffen rather than Goofin', so there was only one print run (and AFAIK, only a US pressing - all the ones I've seen over here have been imports). It was the second-to-last LP I got too.

I think it was up for about £58 buy-it-now.

radarmaker 03.16.2011 01:39 PM

Not too bad, I sold my spare copy for £50.

easyrazors 03.16.2011 01:52 PM

Just a general vinyl question here.....
I've only just recently got a turntable again. Does anyone know what is the deal with the 180g vinyl reissues? I can understand that if the vinyl is heavier, it's less likely to warp, but surely the cut is the same, or similar? I fail to see how they could sound any different to the original, without some kind of adaptor, or, heh, even a weighted stylus.
Is it just a clever marketing gimmick? Anyone know?

radarmaker 03.17.2011 07:37 AM

Yeah, less likely to warp & theoretically able to be cut deeper. But as you say, for the most part, it's a gimmick - you'd be very hard pressed to tell the difference between a well-mastered, well-cut 150gm LP as opposed to 180. Other than the price tag.

IIRC, Matador said as much themselves when the second pressing of The Eternal was (I think) 150gm instead of the first-run 180gm.

"
"180 Gram" refers to the mass of the glob of vinyl (called a biscuit) that used to press the disc. One twenty and 150 gram pressings are thinner, and hence cannot be cut as deep as a 180 gram pressing. The deeper the cut, the more musical information that can be contained in the groove."

but if the pressing sucks, or the mastering sucks (analog vs digital masters) the result may not have much value

hirsute_biped 04.07.2011 08:09 PM

real sonic gear, no wayzerz!

hirsute_biped 04.25.2011 03:03 AM

damn, how about that Ibanez (?!) from the 80's EVOL/Sister/Daydream era. Normally, I would think such a guitar as ugly and gross, but given it's provinance, extremely cool. Anybody want to fess up to puchasing any of the recent auction items? Mr. Lawrence?

Chris Lawrence 04.25.2011 01:49 PM

I didn't even know they'd posted anything besides the Epiphone!

I've got some pretty interesting stuff up for auction on ebay right now, if you're looking for good stuff, plus I'll be listing more stuff over the next day or two. All have low opening bids of 9.99 with no reserve, apart from a Daydream Nation T-shirt that I don't really want to go for a song....

http://shop.ebay.co.uk/easy-razors/m...id=p4340.l2562

Have a look when you get time!!

easyrazors 05.04.2011 10:56 PM

Just a self-serving bump with a few hours to go....

EVOLghost 05.05.2011 12:55 AM

you got some nice stuff. and the gameboy too haha.

easyrazors 05.05.2011 07:03 AM

Ack, remind me never to sell anything on ebay ever again :(

nicfit 05.05.2011 07:13 AM

uh, what happened? bids way too low? I wish I wasn't skint, I sure would have bid on some of that nice stuff.

Yeah, eBay sucks - I've moved to Discogs (except for the really rare stuff).

I've noticed that Discogs often has more affordable pricing on things. Plus, it seems that Discogs is more collector-oriented (so you know what you are getting). *Everything* on eBay is M or NM (yeah, right). So many times people have said "Well it is 20 years old -- so of course it is near mint for being that old!"

I did feel a wee bit guilty about getting some of easyrazors items for the amount they went for. I just threw in some bids not expecting to win anything. So at least I got ya some more money by putting an additional bid in. . .

nicfit 06.03.2011 05:50 PM

someone should buy this and tell us what's on it

http://cgi.ebay.com/Underground-USA-...-/200449207748
I would, but it says shipping over here is like 140$ hahaha.

Chris Lawrence 06.04.2011 05:46 PM

i knew this was on my site but apparently i still haven't found out what's on it!

could somebody email the seller and ask? the fact that it's pre-Geffen is interesting.

musicplatypus 06.07.2011 01:12 PM

Okay, eBay sucks, yes.

But -- has anyone bought any of those rare items from "easy-razors" on eBay, and have you received any of your items?

Anyone know who this individual is? I won several items, paid and have not received anything. I have tried contacting them several times with no response.

Did you pay by PayPal? Just dispute the transaction then.

Chris Lawrence 06.07.2011 02:39 PM

they've posted in this thread...(but perhaps you're aware of that)

Yeah, me too. No records, no replies. He received negative feedback from someone a couple of days ago for the very same reason.

nicfit 06.07.2011 06:47 PM

Wow.
That kinda sucks...

Stu bought a couple things from his collection in late january, before he put some of his stuff on ebay, everything went fine back then, see here

http://www.sonicyouth.com/gossip/showthread.php?t=45041

hope he'll come back and clear away the shadows of doubts soon.

musicplatypus 06.08.2011 11:02 AM

Yeah -- I could dispute it -- but I want the items! ;)

I understand his concerns, I am a collector. Even sent him a heartfelt response to his initial eBay message.

I have already opened cases for each item with eBay.

I had some nasty things to say -- but I thought I'd ask nicely first. I had someone else experience a serious family illness before-- and I waited patiently for a month and a half before I got my items.

krischanski 06.18.2011 03:05 PM

this Daydream Nation box has a bidder
