'Get Into the Groove(y)' ... I didn't even realize it was a cover at the time.

My cousin had purchased 'Screaming Fields of Sonic Love' for me as a Sonic Youth starter. The liner notes stated something about this track being their smash dance hit. I recall relaying this information on to a friend at face value. They had never heard Sonic Youth before and I was all "Oh, then maybe you've heard this one song. Apparently it was a big dance hit back in the 80's."

i had a friend who made me a mix tape when i was still in grade school. one of the songs on it was "i dreamed i dream"
so, that was my first sonic youth exposure. still my fuckin fav!
p.s.
how rad is it that there are 2 voices on alot of the new songs?!!?

"She's in a Bad Mood" was the first SY song I ever heard and utterly floored me and changed my life.

My initial exposure to Sonic Youth was through hearing Bull in the Heather, which I still hold in high esteem and regard as my favorite song.

all off "ejstns" : "sreaming skull", "androgynous mind", "in the mind of the bourgeois reader", "doctor's order"
those were completed after several listenings by : "self obsessed and sexy", "tokyo eye", "skink", "sweet shine"

100%

tab by CL

both gtrs: F# F# F# F# E B

the bass more or less propells this song, the guitars
are extremely loose + noise-based, and tuning is really
of no concern....

verse:

B----------
E----------
F#--1-1-1-- MAKE NOISE UP FRETBOARD
F#--1-1-1-- THURSTON USES A SLIDE...
F#--1-1-1-- USE WHATEVER YOU WANT.....
F#--1-1-1--

chorus:

B-------------------------------------------------------
E-------------------------------------------------------
F#--6-----------1-----------6--------8-8-8-8-8-8-8-8-8--
F#--6-----------1-----------6--------8-8-8-8-8-8-8-8-8--
F#--6-----------1-----------6--------8-8-8-8-8-8-8-8-8--
F#--6-----------1-----------6--------8-8-8-8-8-8-8-8-8--

pause for bass solo, then both gtrs come in w/ drumsticks, slides,
whatever, screeching up and down the neck.....

after a few bars of that, just blast away atonal skronk chord drone
action up the neck..................... and that's it!
