The description to this YT video mentions that Lee's new album In Virus Times will be released by Mute soon!!

Will this be the same as what was already released on that French label? Regardless, that artwork looks amazing, it reminds me of Franquin's black period.

Sorry, but I did not care for today's CDC announcement.

it's been back for us since mid last year, but *think* this is the first time anyone has been able to bring in international artists (quarantine has to be done for 2 weeks minimum vax or no vax unless you're coming from nz and the waiting list is 40k deep already, also costs a shit-tonne), so interesting to see how this goes.

Kim Gordon is one of the headliners on the Pitchfork festival:

Cat Power however is not a headliner ?

Just like the Golden Globes, music festivals like this one are about who's HOT NOW, regardless of quality.

There's a 95 minute conversation on YT, uploaded last week, between Lee and Mitchell Rasor for a Maine College of Arts seminar about his career (I assume, haven't watched all of it yet)
Link: https://youtu.be/zX2v1P8lUgE

Update after watching it fully:
It's about art, Lee's own artworks, but even more about others and especially Robert Smithon's

so thurston and the dead c.....was an actual collaborative set?? didn't get to go myself but friend said they played a bunch of SY tracks (silver rocket, 100%, teenage riot) interspersed with improv stuff, sounded like a joy.

Holy cow! That looks mighty fine

Handmade 'bootleg-style' double vinyl limited edition of Smart Bar - Chicago 1985. Color vinyl (all colors + combinations of color), hand-numbered with double-side newsprint style fold-over cover w poster on flip side of cover. Limited edition of 1,000 2xlps. Pressed at Kinder Core in Athens, GA. Poster/artwork designed by Bill Mooney of Tannis Root.

The text says it's an edition of 1000, bandcamp text further down says 800. Perhaps they're saving the other 200 or they're sold elsewhere

I bought all 800 to get all colour combinations :D

The Soup Nazi 06.24.2021 10:04 PM

"Bootleg-style" and "color vinyl" are connected terms now? :D

I got my Smart Bar vinyl just now and it's (thankfully) the mauve coloring with some swirls on the second LP. Looks cool, though I think they should have made the paper a little sturdier.

you're welcome! ;)

note that when I posted this, the full album could be streamed. I just revisited the bandcamp page. Now it says the digital album is available for pre-order for a September release, and only two tracks are streamable.

The thread was dead, so I had to recover it by removing a message. This is the message I removed:
