Please help Steve

On a recent interview (I think it was on the Wire), Steve said that as soon as SY will finis their summer tour, he will start working on the Daydream nation reissue.
He wants to explore the SY archives and to dig some gems so the rest band can choose some good stuff to be included in the deluxe edition.
Why don't we help Steve to find the good stuff? Any recommendations? Live shows? Rarities?

pokkeherrie 09.04.2006 06:09 AM

so the daydream deluxe really is going to happen then? that's good to know.

Moshe 09.04.2006 07:56 AM

The DDN book was pushed back to march 15th 2007. Do you think SY are planning some DDN fest for the spring time?

sonikjuice 09.04.2006 08:11 AM

The CBGB gig before DN came out is quite good. Some interesting versions of songs, with Thurston singing "Cross the Breeze", etc... I think it's a fairly popular bootleg.

Fox 09.04.2006 08:26 AM

Daydream Nation Deluxe is coming ??? AYAE!

LittlePuppetBoy 09.04.2006 08:28 AM

since I already have Daydream Nation (one of my favourite albums ever) should I buy the deluxe?

silverfreepress (sdasher) 09.04.2006 08:39 AM

They could reprint of the the huge guitar tab charts they wrote out for one of the DDN songs and include it in the vinyl release.

Danny Himself 09.04.2006 09:32 AM

If they have some good tapes of the '89 Vienna show, that'd be good. I'd love to hear it souped up.

http://www.rbally.net/2006/08/sonic-...89-and-in.html Vienna show, for those who want it.

Andrés 09.04.2006 09:49 AM

They could also add a DVD of a live show

nicfit 09.04.2006 10:09 AM

i second that.there are soo many good boots around the net (not so many of the DDN tours, actually)that a good live dvd would be much better.

Danny Himself 09.04.2006 10:10 AM

Yeah, I always thought a 4-disc set would be the way to go:

Disc 1: The Remastered Album
Disc 2: Demos, B-Sides, useful sonic nuggets.
Disc 3: Live Show or two.
Disc 4: DVD - Live videos, music videos, excerpts from stuff like 'put blood in the music' and so forth.

nicfit 09.04.2006 10:14 AM

now that i think of it,the entire "gig" from which the silver rocket video was extracted would be AMAZING as an extra.i love the setting and looks like a relly good performance judging by the snippets of other songs on put blood in the music

Fox 09.05.2006 10:23 AM

I don't understand people who want a bootleg they already heard just for a question of sound quality... I think rehearsals are far more interestings!

nicfit 09.05.2006 10:26 AM

fox,guess you're not much into all the "Flac thing" etc,uh ;) ?

Fox 09.05.2006 10:32 AM

I don't even know what is it :D

Oh yeah. That's a great idea.

dazedcola 09.05.2006 02:13 PM

I agree about putting a dvd out from that era with the reissue, that would kick ass. Were any of their live performances from DDN era ever recorded? (not tv shows)

i don't think that's going to happen, it'll be a two cd set like goo and dirty.

They did do 3 DDN songs in Pittsburgh last week. Man, if they resurrect 'Cross the Breeze and I get to see them next year, I'll be one happy camper.

But they have dual discs now, they can do it, I guess.
But they should definitely put in the rehearsals of the songs, and the videos for the DN.

PAULYBEE2656 09.06.2006 06:38 AM

i just got the rerelease of pere ubus modern dance, on dual disc. its great! but sy ddn...... dvd would be great but the version of silver rocket on the late show is worthy of inclusion either video or audio. my tip to steve, slap everything possible gettable on it, 4 cd/dvd dual disc compendium all wrapped up in a lovely presentation box with a free candle.....
really lookin forward to this one, i take it its gonna be end 2007 at the earliest anyway!!!!!!

yeeeaaah

Washing Machine 09.06.2006 07:16 AM

Its about bloody time! If there was one album in the world that needs to be reissued its this one! Yeah I think a DVD would be cool, also a big Daydream Nation poster, like the one in the 'Suicide Notes' record shop in that episode of The Simpsons.

I think it's going to be release on late 2007... It'll do a Deluxe every two years...

scott v 09.06.2006 01:06 PM

personally i'd rather see a deluxe version of "Sister" but that is so very doubtful that it would ever happen since the master tapes from the Sister sessions were recorded over during the Experimental Jetset recording sessions. anyways i've noticed with time that my opinion of daydream nation as being one of their most definitive achievements has lessened and Sister has taken over that slot...

Fox 09.06.2006 01:59 PM

I think we're going to have a Sister Deluxe after DDN... Sister is also a classic album... And I think that if they do other deluxes, Washing Machine is going to be deluxed too...

I'd like to have a Bad Moon Rising deluxe but I don't think it's gonna happen...

greenlight 09.06.2006 03:51 PM

can't wait.

krastian 09.07.2006 02:04 PM

Yes, that one & 3/26/89 Paradiso Amsterdam would be good candidates to with which to cull some live material.

Everyneurotic 09.07.2006 02:11 PM

if any album sy should deluxe, then that's confusion is sex.

I got the same wish...

To Everyneurotic: I don't think it's going to happen... I'd like to have one too, but I don't think there's a lot of tapes or demos from that era...
