Okay this has probebly been done loads of times, but im bored here goes, another poll - Favourite SY album of the 00's, im gonna have to go with Sonic Nurse, I just love that record.

Sonic Nurse. Good memories of that tourr... oh yes..

I enjoy all of them, but Murray Street was too short, Rather Ripped loses momentum after you've had incinerate fucked up your ass so many times, and NYCG+F isn't really much of a first choice, although it is very good.

That's one of the worst.Die in your sleep.......slowly.

The 00's, though, have been a great period for Sonic Youth. Very high standard of output.

Switch Nurse and NYCGF and you've got it. I also agree that through the 00's, output has been top notch. (Not to slag off on RR)

Nurse at the moment.. then MS, RR, NYCG+F. it's changing all the time, and i love 'em all a ton.

Sonic Nurse is a masterpiece. I consider it better than DDN. Every song is good. It's a very underrated album. But I love all of the '00s albums. After Nurse, I can't pick an order for the remaining three albums. I like them equally.

MS is the only one I enjoy.

Frankly, I don't see why people seem to love Sonic Nurse and Murray Street so much...for me MS had "Karenology/Karen Revisited" and "Radical Adults Lick Godhead Style" ("Rain On Tin" is a good song, but it's hardly the masterpiece some fans/critics make it out to be), while SN had no really good songs after "Stones" ("Paper Cut Exit" was OK, but I think Lee's done/can do better, and "I Love You Golden Blue" had a cool intro but after that the track was weak IMO)...

I think the expression "Too many cooks spoil the broth" works in the case of Sonic Youth's 2000s...Jim O'Rourke might be good with Gaster Del Sol and such, but with SY he did nothing but weigh down the band and overcomplicate things, turning them into a second-rate Wilco ripoff at best and weak post-rockers at worst.

For me, Rather Ripped is more cohesive and propulsive, now that they've shed the excess baggage...I haven't heard enough of NYC Ghosts and Flowers to judge there, but what I have heard I like...

I think Jim O'Rourke's presence revitalized the band and made their 00's output some of the most consistant of their career. I miss Jim a little on Rather Ripped, thats not to say its not a brilliant record but with Jim in the band it really seemed like they were moving forward.

it's one of my fav albums by SY and maybe of all times.

The more I listen to Rather Ripped the more wonderful it becomes to me.

For me, it's Sonic Nurse. It's one of my favourites out of all of their stuff actually.

Murray street is better than all the others put together.

sonic nurse made me fall in love with them all over again. it was a very close decision between it and rather ripped though which i think has catapulted them into very strong contention for greatest band of all-time. i need to listen to the other two more and i am going to right now as soon as the new mono finishes kicking my ass.

Murray Street is one of my all-time favorite records. It's the album that popped my sonic cherry for sure.

I cannot believe nurse is winning. Such a shit album. It's like a less watered down Rather Ripped.

I went with Murray Street, but I'd choose eyeliner/helen lundeberg if you included EP's. The songs on Sonic Nurse are far too similar to each other (with a few exceptions), but I love the songs Unmade Bed and Mariah Carey. As for RR, it has a lot more strong points than Nurse, but also quite a few more weaker points. I find Murray Street is the most balanced out of all of them, with songs varying from one another more. Sympathy For the Strawberry and Karen Revisited are both totally ace. The rhythm of Karen's one of my favorites.

I can't choose between nyc+...and sn.

Murray Street, of course. By far the best of the 4.
