Hey... let's have a typing contest.

Please answer these questions giving as much detail (using as many words) as possible.

So, do fans of sonic youth enjoy spoon's new album gagaga?

Do fans of sonic youth enjoy the magnetic fields album 69 love songs?

Why does this keyboard sound like its farting as I type? Loose springs?

What is significant about chamber pop, when related to the begining of the indie mainstream of the late 80's and early 90's? Have we completely forgotten the example of the late 70's Do it Because You Can't ethic?

Discuss.

Seriously, I'm clueless.

Also, Does anyone actually like Paul Baribeau? I do!

Does the Go! Team us too many samples? (there is no correct answer to this question)

Does Marijuana actually make music sound better?

Who is a more hardcore idealist, Ted Leo, or any mainstream hardcore bands at all these days?

Who would win in a bar fight, Ted Leo, or
Andrew Bird? And who do you imagine would throw the first punch?

Whats your favorite sonic youth t-shirt design? (mine is the EVOL shirt with the lyrics to that beach boys song on it)

pbradley 10.15.2007 04:59 PM

"I don't know" is pretty much the answer to all of your questions.

This may be because I have little interest in indie pop.

atsonicpark 10.15.2007 05:03 PM

I CAN type 149 words per minute.

So I shall answer:
So, do fans of sonic youth enjoy spoon's new album gagaga?
No. Boring.

Do fans of sonic youth enjoy the magnetic fields album 69 love songs?
It has its moments but it's too long.

Why does this keyboard sound like its farting as I type? Loose springs?
Yes.

What is significant about chamber pop, when related to the begining of the indie mainstream of the late 80's and early 90's? Have we completely forgotten the example of the late 70's Do it Because You Can't ethic?
EH?

Also, Does anyone actually like Paul Baribeau? I do!
Who?

Does the Go! Team us too many samples? (there is no correct answer to this question)
That band's fucking terrible.

Does Marijuana actually make music sound better?
Depends.

Who is a more hardcore idealist, Ted Leo, or any mainstream hardcore bands at all these days?
Ted Leo vs "Mainstream hardcore"? What the fuck is wrong with you? You're the most pitchforked person in the history of this board!

Who would win in a bar fight, Ted Leo, or
Andrew Bird? And who do you imagine would throw the first punch?
Neither, they're too busy on Pitchfork.

Whats your favorite sonic youth t-shirt design? (mine is the EVOL shirt with the lyrics to that beach boys song on it)
CONFUSION IS SEX.

oooh marfa-- i missed that show, had to be elsewhere. crap. was supposed to have dinner with floatingslowly and girlgun also in okiehaha.

lucky for us it didn't pan out. turns out we were the main course. i think they are brazilian avantgardist expats.

but anyway, im ok. living in new mexico sucks in more ways that one, away from all civilization, but it has been good for business. making websites & videos & shit-- we can actually make an irregular living without having a boss, except for madame !@#$%! who teaches a couple of university courses.

so how is that thesis, and what is it about ? (oh no, i've committed a breach of gradschool etiquette). but seriously, that baroque project was interesting, and i'm wondering what you're cooking up these days. i was just rewatching some of the architectures videos the other day (the ones from that european coproduction), fascinating stuff.

i actually missed most of the show myself. i was supposed to be flying out of jacksonville friday evening, but i forgot to allow time for random tropical storms, and got stuck behind an accident three exits from the airport for just long enough to miss my flight. the next flight i could catch put me in san antonio at 4:30 sat afternoon, and i was pulling up at the thunderbird at 10:45 for a show advertised as starting at 10:00 with an opening band. so i was thinking i'd still catch most of the sonic set. turns out they'd pushed the show up to 9:00 because of impending rain, and the opening act only played a 15 minute set, so sonic youth took the stage around 9:20. i basically only caught the encore. damn that water that falls from the sky!!!

my thesis (at the moment, anyway...hehe) is an investigation of the unreasonable (in the sense of foucault's madness and civilization) in architecture. work that originates outside of or overtly resists use value and profit motive. i've been looking at work that exists at the intersection of art and architecture: gordon matta-clark, donald judd, diller + scofidio for example. i friend of mine owns a house in st. augustine that he's going to tear down, and i'm planning on "matta-clarking" it, but i don't want to just cut it in half... i want to do something he might have done, but hasn't already...

i'm not sure which videos you're refering to, but i've been uploading a bunch of my architecture videos to youtube. check them out at

http://www.youtube.com/m1rr0rshad3

so what kind of websites & videos & shit do you do? i'd like to see them...

oh yeah. airports now are a bitch. sorry it worked out fucked. at least you had fun afterwards?

i had a similar experience in a recent trip to new york, worked got out of hand and we ended up arriving to see the last 2 songs + the encore circle played at the knitting factory.

oh i try to keep my "serious" private life out of this internet brothel. you know, i try to be respectable outside of here... ha ha ha. plus with the proliferation of internet loonies, snooping all over, i'd rather keep anonymous-- that also gives me free license to post porn pictures here, ha ha.

i cant stick around intensively tonight due to some work fuckups, which is also the reason im not at the magik marker's phoenix show tonight. but let's keep hijacking this shit-- oh the fun.

So, do fans of sonic youth enjoy spoon's new album gagaga?
No. Spoon is terrible.

Do fans of sonic youth enjoy the magnetic fields album 69 love songs?
I don't.

Why does this keyboard sound like its farting as I type? Loose springs?
I don't know. Retarded?

What is significant about chamber pop, when related to the begining of the indie mainstream of the late 80's and early 90's? Have we completely forgotten the example of the late 70's Do it Because You Can't ethic?
I don't give a fuck.

Discuss.

Seriously, I'm clueless.

Also, Does anyone actually like Paul Baribeau? I do!
No. Nobody does.

Does the Go! Team us too many samples? (there is no correct answer to this question)Yes. They blow.

Does Marijuana actually make music sound better?
Pot is sweet.

Who is a more hardcore idealist, Ted Leo, or any mainstream hardcore bands at all these days?
Who cares? Hardcore and Leo suck equally.

Who would win in a bar fight, Ted Leo, or
Andrew Bird? And who do you imagine would throw the first punch?
They're both fucking pussies.

Whats your favorite sonic youth t-shirt design? (mine is the EVOL shirt with the lyrics to that beach boys song on it)
I don't know, Goo?

more art than architecture... gordon matta-clark did a lot of different types of things, but he's most famous for his building cuts

'anarchitecture' he called it.

m1rr0r dash 10.15.2007 09:44 PM

donald judd is the other reason i went to marfa... he is the one who founded the chinati foundation

m1rr0r dash 10.15.2007 09:54 PM

diller + scofidio are architects who spend more time ironing shirts incorrectly and the like than designing buildings...

...that last one is a 'building' made of mist.

avantgarde1 10.15.2007 09:55 PM

lol, how did this turn into a thread about architecture?

pbradley 10.15.2007 09:58 PM

Because architecture is more interesting than idiotic questions.

m1rr0r dash 10.15.2007 10:04 PM

[through teeth]i KNOW, but quiet with that kinda talk, you're gonna get us all killed![/through teeth]

NOTHING TO SEE HERE, JUST SOME NOBODY DOING SOME BORING ARCHITECTURAL RESEARCH. NOTHING TO SEE. MOVE ALONG.

!@#$%! 10.15.2007 10:39 PM

about matta-clarking that house:

that stuff reminds me of the work of some "zen punk" [sic] interior decorator.

apparently he goes into your place with a chainsaw & fucks it all up in the name of giving you a beginner's mind.

he's gotta be googable.

what i was driving at was

maybe you can mattaclarkit™ inside & out.

PAULYBEE2656 10.16.2007 05:35 AM

So, do fans of sonic youth enjoy spoon's new album gagaga?
i cant speak for all sy fans but for me, no , they suck balls like a big ball sucking machine on overdrive but dont shoot me as it is only my opinion and opinions are ike the weather, they are everywhere and usually they are caused by the atmosphere changing.......

Do fans of sonic youth enjoy the magnetic fields album 69 love songs?
again i can not speak for all but i always find the magnetic fields quite overrated but i realise that i am in the minority and 69 is a classic alleged classic album of which i hold no real opinion of only that it exists and well done to it for that!

Why does this keyboard sound like its farting as I type? Loose springs?
ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm............................

What is significant about chamber pop, when related to the begining of the indie mainstream of the late 80's and early 90's? Have we completely forgotten the example of the late 70's Do it Because You Can't ethic?
music is too easy. anyone can make music with a games console now and a bit of cash. bring back the old big reel to reel 8 track tapes and a razor and a bunch of shit amps and re live the past like dickensian whore.....

Discuss.
i just did!

Seriously, I'm clueless.
no problem. that is also an overrated piece of art!

Also, Does anyone actually like Paul Baribeau? I do!
never met him but im sure i would like him if i met him. i would at least offer to wipe his mouth if he dribbled profousely....

Does the Go! Team us too many samples? (there is no correct answer to this question)
no, they just make too many songs! th bass player with te go team was a member of the awesome huggy bear and the awesome im being good yknow!

Does Marijuana actually make music sound better?
no, but sound travels through air and it makes the air between the speaker cone and your ear drum sound better.....

Who is a more hardcore idealist, Ted Leo, or any mainstream hardcore bands at all these days?
what is hardcore. what is a hardcore ideal? what is a mainstream hardcore band?

Who would win in a bar fight, Ted Leo, or
Andrew Bird? And who do you imagine would throw the first punch?

they would both hit the first punch simoultainiously as neither would be able to go a second without poking fun at their surnames and as both are relativly decent people , neither would want to go first... after you, no after you, no i insist afetr yo, no way sir after you fuck this THUMP! as for the victor....... it would have to be society in general.

Whats your favorite sonic youth t-shirt design? (mine is the EVOL shirt with the lyrics to that beach boys song on it)
sonic life or the manhattan skyline one from nyc g & f

thanks... just out of curiousity, what did you do instead?

m1rr0r dash 10.16.2007 06:21 AM

...ah. money. the reason i went into architecture and not fine arts...

!@#$%! 10.16.2007 10:12 AM

i studied literature and now i make websites. lolling would be appropriate at this time. i had to drop out of the phd because a) it was taking forever, b) it presented no solid prospects of employment after such a marathon effort, c) i was sick and tired of school--2 BAs + a masters had already eaten my brain, d) i was sick and tired of poverty: gradschool is the financial doldrums.
