What is the setlist like these days?

Can anyone enlighten me?

mil_pl 08.23.2008 10:50 AM

what?

SYRFox 08.23.2008 10:52 AM

It's generally printed in Comic Sans MS, hmm maybe size 14, in black. The paper is white. It contains the tracks Sonic Youth plays, and who plays what

This Is Not Here 08.23.2008 10:56 AM

Too answer you sensibly, it centres heavily around Daydream Nation tracks, they've also ressurected alot of really old classics, She is Not Alone, World looks Red etc...

SonicBebs 08.23.2008 11:03 AM

hi ecfan, welcome to the board

theres info about everygig SY have ever played in the Sonicology section in the Archives page up there ^^^ check it out its pretty good

krastian 08.23.2008 03:11 PM

Nothing awesome that they haven't played in forever or anything.....pretty disappointing really.

atsonicpark 08.23.2008 03:16 PM

You must spread some Smartassedness around before giving it to SYRFox again.

RanaldoNecro 08.23.2008 03:22 PM

I wish they would revert back to the old trebuchet ms material

Nice to see a couple people answered this guy without trying to make him look stupid for asking a question about Sonic Youth on their board.

Nonetheless, the Sonicology chronology is not anywhere near up to date. The last shows listed on it in 2008 are in February, and I'm sure their set is quite different from then by now. Chris Lawrence must have a life or something. ;)

So ecfan's question is completely valid and mostly unanswered.

drrrtyboots 08.25.2008 12:02 AM

I'm guessing your best bet is to compare it to the July 4th setlist, you're likely to see similar songs played with some possible variations.

July 4th:

She is not Alone
Bull in the Heather
Silver Rocket
Skip Tracer
The Sprawl
World Looks Red
Cross the Breeze
Hey Joni
Jams Run Free
The Wonder/Hyperstation
Drunken Butterfly
--------
Making the Nature Scene
Pink Steam
--------
Schizophrenia
100%

neptuneg 08.25.2008 12:07 AM

It seems that they have also brought back The Burning Spear

deflinus 08.25.2008 12:38 AM

all they do now is play bananarama covers.

... which is pretty likely for sonic youth to do to be honest.

Dead-Air 08.25.2008 01:00 AM

I don't mind that they play a couple things from Rather Ripped, it's their last album and all, but it's sure a shame they don't play anything else after Dirty (except for "Bull in the Heather", which always comes back too). I wish they'd play stuff off of Washing Machine again.

acousticrock87 08.25.2008 05:00 AM

Well the set-list for the recent Daydream Nation shows were:

Teen Age Riot
Silver Rocket
The Sprawl
Cross the Breeze
Eric's Trip
Total Trash
Hey Joni
Providence
Candle
Rain King
Kissability
The Wonder
Hyperstation
Eliminator Jr.
---
Rather Ripped Blah Blah Blah
Who the Fuck Cares
More Rather Ripped
Yeah Whatever

Something like that. Totally off the top of my head, but that was the gist of it.

thats wierd, i'd have thought if you liked NYCGAF you'd like Golden Blue?

clever name 08.25.2008 09:59 PM

Don't get me wrong, Nurse is what turned me onto em, but that doesn't really set the tone for a wildass show. Renegade Princess on the other hand...
