Irish Wolfhound

This is the most beautiful breed of dog... I want one so bad. Does anyone own one, or know someone who does? I don't really know any personally, but have met a few briefly. They're wonderful.

ni'k 04.26.2009 05:06 PM

i have a relative who has one. they are extremely rare and extremely expensive.

flophousefloozie 04.26.2009 05:12 PM

I know they're exspensive, but they aren't very rare, at least in Canada.. There's actually a national club for them, lol.

Kloriel 04.26.2009 05:20 PM

glances up at wall mounted trophies.

never seen one, some kind of duck is it?

ploesj 04.26.2009 06:41 PM

there are a few guys in the city who have one, i go cuddle them any chance i get.... they're amazingly calm and gentle. if i ever have the time/money/space i'll definitely get one... it's my all-time favourite dog.

Horse, actually. ni'k was talking about the duck breed. It's the rare one, I believe...

Totally repped for good taste.

ploesj 04.26.2009 06:47 PM

thanks!

i got the love for my dad :P and the fact that i'v never been afraid of dogs, no matter how big they are (actually, in my opinion, the bigger the nicer in most cases)

Agreed! I absolutely love dogs... I'd love to own some land one day, so I can have a few big dogs. But, I've also always wanted my first home to be a classy downtown loft, so, hmm... lol

ploesj 04.26.2009 06:53 PM

haha! my mother still likes to tell about how i used to come downstairs crying at night because i wanted a dog so badly. but no one was home during the day so we couldn't have one. we now adopted my stepfather's dog when moving in with him and his family (a cross between a border collie and a dalmatian) and my dad got a golden retriever about a year ago... both are awesome dogs!

LOL, that's hilarious, I did the exact same thing! It was worse when we went to the pet store, just to look, and I'd always get back into the car with tears streaming down my face, and like, purple cheeks.

pbradley 04.26.2009 07:00 PM

Looks like a noble hound.

ploesj 04.26.2009 07:06 PM

he's told to be the only dog who is aware of his own size (which is very big), and he's very careful around small children or smaller animals, since he could just knock them over.

and flophousefloozie: my mother avoided taking me to pet stores, since it would mean at least two weeks of 'i want a doooog!'

in the end we got two cats, which is nice too :P i basically like all animals.

flophousefloozie 04.26.2009 07:44 PM

The Leonberger is another beaut...

Silent Dan Speaks 04.26.2009 07:48 PM

I was just talking to my friends yesterday about how cool it would be to own an Irish wolfhound. They're so noble looking.

i've seen it somewhere.

grandpa?? is that you...??

_slavo_ 04.27.2009 02:48 AM

It's actually the biggest dog breed whatsoever, isn't it?

nicfit 04.27.2009 03:07 AM

ploesj 04.27.2009 03:28 AM

yep, it is. very impressive, but watch your food when you're eating, since his head is about as high as the average table.

too bad they don't live long... and it's very hard to raise a puppy (they grow so fast they need a lot of sleep during the day, and too much sudden movement can damage their bones)

sonic sphere 04.27.2009 04:58 AM

they're my favourite type of dog too. i've been to a farm where they had 2 of them running around and i thought they were awesome. i remember reading somewhere that they are prone to depression!

Alex's Trip 04.27.2009 12:08 PM

Looks like a cheap polar bear.

CATS!

flophousefloozie 04.27.2009 04:01 PM

I definately like cats (my cat is wonderful), but when it comes to being either a "cat" or "dog" person, I'd have to go with dogs. I've never met a dog a didn't like.

ploesj 04.27.2009 04:31 PM

i really don't know about that one. never felt like being a cat or a dog person, i've always loved both...

my mother always says i'll end up as that person who adopts loads of disabled animals just because no one else would want them :P

flophousefloozie 04.27.2009 04:41 PM

I know what you mean... When we adopted my cat, I felt so guilty about it, because she's so beautiful, and if we hadn't taken her, someone else would have... I went to the shelter thinking I would get the oldest, fatest cat there, but I just fell in love with her.
