The best pie

???

nomadicfollower 08.07.2006 07:53 PM

Key lime pie (sp?).

Yum.

Toilet & Bowels 08.07.2006 07:57 PM

that's not a pie, it's a tart.

nomadicfollower 08.07.2006 07:58 PM

You sure?
I've only heard it called key lime pie.

Toilet & Bowels 08.07.2006 08:01 PM

pies have a layer of pastry on top. you americans need to update your language with the times. i've even heard americans refer to pizza as being a pie! Malarkey!

nomadicfollower 08.07.2006 08:03 PM

Hah, well excuse my American ignorance.
Ignore my first vote and let my new one be pumpkin pie.

Pookie 08.07.2006 08:04 PM

Pie: dish baked in pastry-lined pan with a pastry top.

LittlePuppetBoy 08.07.2006 08:07 PM

why didn't you mention Lemon Mirangue pie?

My dad makes really kickass ones.

Hip Priest 08.08.2006 03:28 AM

Since we're talking about sweet pies which are nice enough in themselves, I'll say apple and blckcurrant. But savoury pies are preferable.

jon boy 08.08.2006 04:10 AM

those linda mcartneys ones are actually very nice.

Style 08.08.2006 04:21 AM

Layer of pastry on top?

that eliminates all of my favorites

key lime pie
lemon marange (however the fuck you spell it)
banana cream pie
french apple pie

Toilet & Bowels 08.08.2006 10:08 AM

french apple "pie" is a tart, the french themselves call it a "tarte" which is french for tart.
lemon meringue pie has a layer of meringue instead of pastry so is still a pie.

jon boy 08.08.2006 10:16 AM

has anyone ever eaten apple pie with cheese on it?

EMMAh 08.08.2006 10:20 AM

So pumpkin pie is really a tart?
I voted apple, nothing beats a good apple pie with lots of cinnamon.

jon boy 08.08.2006 10:23 AM

no cinnamon, its wrong. cinnamon is the single worst thing in the history of the world. i feel strongly about this sorry.

sonicl 08.08.2006 10:23 AM

Mr Kipling makes exceedingly good apple pies.

My mum used to as well, God rest her soul.

jon boy 08.08.2006 10:34 AM

Everyneurotic 08.08.2006 10:36 AM

cinnamon is the best thing ever!!!!

i voted blueberry, i don't give a fuck what it's called, i love that shit!

pantophobia 08.08.2006 12:12 PM

don't listen to toliet, he's a cake man

Oh you're so right. No cinnamon, no apple pie. I love it sprinkled on my cappucino as well (cinnamon, not apple pie).

Hip Priest 08.08.2006 02:21 PM

Cinnamon mixed into clotted cream is quite pleasant.

And a stick of cinnamon placed into hot apple juice is an excellent winter drink. Although not as excellent as a glass of port.

Oh, how I'm mocked for drinking port in the winter.

Hip Priest 08.08.2006 07:30 PM

It's so appropriate. It makes you feel instantly warm and hearty. Sotherts Old Books, in Chester, has free port for the regular customers in the approach to Christmas, which is a lovely touch. Nice port, too.

EMMAh 08.08.2006 08:35 PM

Ewww, I dunno why but I find hot apple juice really really gross.

touch me i'm sick 08.08.2006 08:37 PM

pie aye aye

hot apple juice is basically urine

Toilet & Bowels 08.08.2006 08:42 PM

my favourite pie is probably blackberry & apple

Cantankerous 08.08.2006 09:03 PM

i don't really like pie, i like cake. but if i have to choose, apple pie.

Bumped so pie discussers can piss of out of the cake thread.

stu666 04.27.2012 08:52 AM

Steak and Kidney

floatingslowly 04.27.2012 09:23 AM

Cheesecake and pecan.

Sometimes,.side by side. Or on top of one another.

floatingslowly 04.27.2012 09:26 AM

My cackle echoes.

fugazifan 04.27.2012 10:19 AM

pecan and pumpkin are great. as for fruit pies i really like raspberry, which is not on the poll. but blueberry or cherry or basically any other pie is also great.

SonicBebs 04.27.2012 12:14 PM

All day breakfast pie

!@#$%! 04.27.2012 12:18 PM

semantic douchebaggery aside, key lime, pumpkin, coconut cream, and a not-too-syrupy pecan pie (pecan is easy to ruin by oversweetness) all rule.

i've never had meat pies beyond chicken pot pie, but i favor the concept. meat is awesome.

also, hachis parmentier >>> shepherd's pie, if we're going to include potato-based "pies".

floatingslowly 04.27.2012 01:30 PM
