I want to die because I won't be there...

Corsano is playing with Kim according to his site. Should be a real scene (sigh). Thurston is booking most of the next 2 weeks, locals should support the artists and check some these out. I caught the Fursaxa trio Saturday which was as good as I hoped, Marcia Bassett and Samara Lubelski played a compelling set Sunday which was much harsher than I expected (and they play again in Aug). .

Just noticed Thurston plays 7/22 with a big quartet and Lee is scheduled in August when Carlos Giffoni is booking. Wear very light clothing, its brutal in there in the summer, if I won the lottery one of the things I'd do is buy the Stone a real ac system. Probably more exciting is Jun when the AUm Fidelity guy books and we get a bunch of Danny C!

Genteel Death 04.22.2011 03:12 AM

Can anyone going to this record it, please record it? Ta.

Decayed Rhapsody 04.23.2011 09:24 PM

I was planning on going but I got caught up with some ish... and frankly, Kim Gordon solo doesn't seem like the most exciting show, even if it is rare as hell. I'm sure a boot will turn up somewhere.

edit: Oh, Corsano too... hmm that seems cool.

toxic johnny 04.24.2011 10:22 AM

C'mon NYC attendees... What went down?

Decayed Rhapsody 04.24.2011 10:27 AM

Surprise guest: Yoko Ono. Damn, I feel bad for missing this now.

Yeah, he's really creative - on top of having tremdous chops.

hipster_bebop_junkie 04.24.2011 09:14 PM

Thanks very much for those videos, DaveCromwell. Much appreciated. Still hoping an audio recording will surface, although i think The Stone has a policy against taping. Ikue Mori, Skuli Sverrisson & Jim Black's performance on April 20 was taped and is available at dimeadozen, so even if the guy who taped that one didn't attend last night, that sort of gives me some hope.

Chris is so "musical" - he can carry the entire thing on his own - allowing the others to be as loose and experimental as they want to be.

Oh, you're welcome.

Don't you agree they have a "SY sound." I actually asked one them that directly in an intervew and he steered me in another direction - mentioning only the similarites of that open tuning style, than any direct influence. I'm not so sure about that, but I suppose I can understand the response.

On that subject - and I'm sure it's probably discussed here somewhere else (and if anyone would be kind enough to point in me in that direction) - but -what does everyone (including the band, if it has been made public by them) think of the band Megaphonic Thrift? Blatant copyists - or something worthwhile? I'm bit torn myself over it.

I saw Thurston holding something that looked like a Cassette recorder - pointed at the performance the whole time. So - its possible he was recording it. Will he make it available as his own release at some point?

That's good news. Yeah, i'd like to listen to a recording of this, and i'd be delighted to have it in a nice official artifact if it were an option. If he'd plan to release it, i can only hope it won't be in an extremely limited run in cassette tape format, and if he'd do that, hopefully i'd be alert so i won't miss it.

And barring that - hopefully whomever did acquire a copy - would be kind enough (and of course, have the wherewithal) to upload it for proper digital sharing.

:)

Yes. Although i kind of feel a hole in my soul whenever i miss a chance of grabbing an official release by a favorite act, due to circumstances that i can't control. Then later, i feel that is wrong to unnecessarily spend money on e-bay that i could use on some other aspects of my dull life, but i spend it anyways. That being said, people who go through the hassle of transferring the otherwise impossible to find goodies with the purpose of hooking a brother up, deserve all kinds of awesomeness here and in heaven. I love quite a few fellas for that reason alone, and i love 'em like crazy.

Can't argue with that.

Now - go finance your "dull life" ;)
