What do you want the next SY album to sound like?

Okay guys what do you want SY's next album to sound like?

Personnally i would like to see a return to the Evol - Daydream Nation rough edge production (that sounded so atmospheric and breezy) and either an electronically influenced record (kinda like 'The Whitey Album, but with all original songs) or a continuation of the Sonic Nurse/Rather Ripped songwriting approach.

Cantankerous 10.03.2006 06:39 PM

daydream nation was produced pretty slickly.

Hip Priest 10.03.2006 06:44 PM

A non-stop one-track LP semi-improvised around a pre-planned idea, with some nice melodies interrupting a cacophony of carefully-controlled noise, dialogue samples, patches of singing and interpolatory electronica.

SYR7.

Pookie 10.03.2006 06:53 PM

dubstep

nomadicfollower 10.03.2006 07:13 PM

christian metal

jennthebenn 10.03.2006 07:18 PM

like this!

greatest album cover ever...if sonic youth could bring the sound of a
VO5-addicted preacher and a gummi candy satan out on record...shiiiit.

Inhuman 10.03.2006 08:03 PM

Eyyyeeeelliiinnneerrrrr
or stuff similar to Confusion is Sex or the serious songs on the Whitey Album

k-krack 10.03.2006 08:08 PM

I don't care, SY can do no wrong. I'd like to hear some more Helen Lundeberg type-songs though. I prefered it to Eyeliner.

Androol 10.03.2006 08:29 PM

like they are out from under contract with geffen

nature scene 10.03.2006 08:32 PM

I'd like them to not sound like a classic rock band again.

noisemachine 10.03.2006 09:11 PM

I want them to make an album that sounds like whatever they want it to sound like. Its always a bad sign when a band tries to emulate the soundof one of their "classic" albums. It means theyre out of ideas and trying to hold on to whatever is left of their careers. SY still has energy and creativity so they should do next whatever they feel is right.

Androol 10.03.2006 09:16 PM

i agree completely but i am still really excited about what being away from geffen could mean for the next album.

against_the_grain 10.03.2006 09:21 PM

An album of Beatle covers. Hahahaa....

Nah...just something brand new. Being my favorite contemporary band, I count on being challenged by their material...complicated or simplistic...

I don't want it to sound like anything else they've done, I'm relying on something groundbreaking in it's own way each time.

I'd like to hear new material live before I'm familiar with it, that's so exciting !!!

lisayoung 10.03.2006 10:33 PM

well.i hope it will be like anything except rather ripped.cos this one is just rather ripped.

Everyneurotic 10.03.2006 10:42 PM

they'll probably resign to geffen or sign to universal...quit saying "i hope they release their new album on destijl or troubleman or deathbomb arc", it's not going to happen.

Saturseven 10.03.2006 11:18 PM

I want them to cover Nevermind.

static-harmony 10.03.2006 11:28 PM

They should sound like an orchestrated band, for their next album.

GeneticKiss 10.04.2006 12:02 AM

I hope they continue in the vein of RR songs like "Turquoise Boy", "Rats", and "Pink Steam"...
