maybe tangentially, in that lee's readjusting the symbolic value of spam messages - deriving new meaning from them, repackaging them, etc. there's definitely a couple bits of self-referentiality in there as well.

pls note that i'm not any sort of expert and tend to read things from a fairly literalist perspective.

Sounds interesting and kind of funny. Reminds me of Joe Wenderoth's "Letters to Wendy's" (sort of diary that enlists Wendys costumer satisfaction comment cards for inspiration). Anyway, I want this book, man!

Anyway to order this without paypal/credit card?

krastian 11.12.2007 02:11 PM

Are there any scans of what a typical page from the book looks like? I'll prob. buy it either way, but I was just wondering.

sonicl 11.12.2007 02:24 PM

I assume you mean a page with a piece of Lee's writing? 'Cos you can see the title page on that linked webpage.

If it's just examples of words that you're looking for, try here.

Nah, I mean a scan of a page or two from the new book.....ie is it just standard text of Lee's writing or is it possibly in collage form from the spams he received with a drawing on the opposite page??? I'm just interested in how the book is put togther (inside) from a visual aspect.

hi! lee's writing is in standard text - no collage work or anything. the drawings that curt did are not on the same pages as the writing - sometimes they're on the opposite page, but it's not a pattern throughout the book or anything. reasonably random. thanks.
