IS this only available for $300 through this charity?

silverfreepress (sdasher) 10.03.2013 10:10 AM

"$300.00 Reward: A limited edition 7” record of Thurston Moore (Sonic Youth) and New Orleans legend Rob Cambre’s Secret Music Box performance signed by the musicians with cover art by Swoon."

------

That's almost $43 dollars per inch. But you get to help make this cool educational/musical playhouse.

fuck this shit. sell some of your records Thurston, and fund your own shit.

MyFriendGoo 10.03.2013 10:47 AM

Yeah, fuck this! First that OTO Roku LP for £100, and now this? I give up. I don't care if it's for a good cause. As of right now I'm no longer a collector of all things Sonic. I've spent ridiculous amounts over the years, but this does it. I think I'll just rip all my stuff and get rid of it.

Completism has its drawbacks.

Well, I've maintained for years that all these solo and side projects, limited editions, etc have actually eaten into the sales of their 'mainstream' Geffen/Matador titles, thus reducing their commercial viability. I mean, some 20-year-old fella or gal in uni can't fork out a 100 smackers for some LP with a painted cover by Thurston and John Moloney and then turn around and buy The Eternal, Smart Bar or Chelsea Light Moving, can s/he. I mean, if he or she has a choice between the latest mainstream album and some limited-edition vinyl or cassette, you know where his or her moola is heading, right? And with a limited budget, the sale of a 100-dollar album means no sales for three or four mainstream records. Common sense.

I will buy the 7" on Ebay in 2 years for $10

Guess it all depends on how you look at it......for a $300 dollar donation to Dithyramabalina, you receive a limited edition Thurston Moore 7".

This may be an apples to oranges comparison, but later this month, my wife and youngest daughter are participating in a 5K Breast Cancer Color Run. If you signed up by a certain date in September, two people could participate for $75. If you sign up afterwards, it's $50 per person.

You receive two event t-shirts with your entry. Not once did my wife say......they charged us $75 for two t-shirts.

This video is a little different from the one above: http://www.dithyrambalina.com/

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Bytor Peltor again.
