Saw these guys 2 nights ago in Toronto for a great gig at Sneaky Dee's.
The Psychic Paramount opened for them and were fantastic. Earsplittingly loud and feedback machines, really great jams and most 'songs' just segued into the next, which i enjoyed.
Disappears came on around 12 and played a solid set. I recognized most songs as being off GUIDER although definitely some new tunes in there. they finished with revisiting which was just phenomenal-its such a simple yet overpowering jam. After yelling for more, brian asked whether we wanted a suicide cover or more disappears...i yelled BOTH and then they went into either an unrecognizable suicide cover or a new disappears tune, likely the latter.
I met steve after the show, and he truly is as nice/easygoing as most people on here claim. He said hes playing some stuff on the new spectre folk record. I also asked if he was playing on Lee's solo record and he said he is on a couple tracks! I quickly became at a loss for words but thanked him for coming to Canada and for playing in such a small, intimate venue. Picked up both the disappears LP's from for $10-steal.
