Kim Gordon Meets Phantom Orchard With Yoshimi

Let's hope this goes down better than when Kiss met the Phantom of the Park

It's been a collaborative year for Kim Gordon. Not only did the Sonic Youth bassist revive her Free Kitten side project for a new album and appear in a short film with a bunch of other musicians, but two of Sonic Youth's releases from this year prominently feature the contributions of others.

For her newest collaborative project, Gordon has once again joined forces with Free Kitten drummer Yoshimi P-We (also of Boredoms and OOIOO). In addition, Gordon has teamed with bassist Trevor Dunn (Mr. Bungle, Fantômas) and Phantom Orchard, a duo consisting of Ikue Mori (DNA) on laptop and harpist Zeena Parkins.

The five collaborators will come together on September 26 for "Kim Gordon Meets Phantom Orchard", a concert at Montalvo Arts Center's Carriage House Theatre in Saratoga, California. It is the world premiere of "The Song Project", a larger collaboration that Gordon and the other folks involved are developing through Montalvo Arts Center's Lucas Artists Programs residency.
