Stick microphones to anything that makes sound and then record it. I made some drum loops from fabrics and it was fun.

haha before my brother got drums he played on biscuit tins and suitcases and other assorted items, it didnt sound to bad either. Im sure we could write PEARL on a biscuit tin and sell it for loads :P
