clockwork orange & shining are wonderful but not life-changing in a way. sure you must see them but your life could pretty much be the same.
from kubrick i'd pick paths of glory & the underrated barry lyndon as potentially life-altering flicks.

Paths of glory is one of his best and Kirk Douglas's best role ever.
There's so much truth in that film.

No movie is capable of changing your life, the "life-changing" aspect is up to you. That part is your responsibility. There is no such thing as a life-altering film.

Also, please rent Pink Flamingos.
