Everyone keeps mentioning the same albums --Surfer Rosa, Rid Of Me, In Utero-- and that's OK, I love 'em, but they need to dig deeper.

What timing, huh. This issue has been out for just a few days - Steve may have had a chance to see it.

Four people messaged me within fifteen minutes about this (while I was asleep) and I slagged the guy off as a cunt almost any chance I got, which speaks volumes to how important he is. Cunt though he may have been, he was one of the few people in the music industry that you can call a genius, and he's worked his magic on so many absolutely glorious records that he'll live forever.
Listened to The Rude Gesture: A Pictorial History, Uranus, and At Action Park in tribute.

As usual, death sure shifts units. To All Trains isn't even out yet and it's already sold out at the Touch & Go webstore:

Is the "How I Wrote Elastic Man" a cover of the Fall tune, or an original? Yes, Albini's death is quite a shock. I met him at the merch table after one of his earlier band's gigs some time ago. Despite the image some have of him, he was really nice. What a career, both with his own music and his production work for others. He'll definitely be missed. |
