I have heard a few songs off The Eternal yesterday from the debut in ILIKE - amazing as always. Can't wait to pick up a copy. I love how you guys manage to find a new Sonic Youth sound for every album - but still keep the same style and integrity that make you the best band in the world. I is totally unique and a pleasure to listen to. Who's idea was it to double up Kim and Thurston's vocals on some tracks? And will you guys be touring soon over here in Australia? We love you down here you know!!

Have you ever considered another trip to Valparaíso? (but this time being the whole band playing, hehehe)

Have a great time.

Every style of music exists because it has something to it. Whether it be melodic, "trippy", based on lyrics (which I hardly ever pay attention to). Therfore, I respect lots of styles of music and what they add to the whole idea of "music". Sometimes it can be classic rock, alternative, disco, metal, pop, dance, folk, classical, trippy stuff like Glenn branca, Can, etc etc. I get amused by almost LOTS of music... Time, place, and feel for anything.

One thing I can't get into is most hip hop, but I think I'm biased to hip hop for my own personal reasons, which isn't a good enough reason to label it as "bad". I think that there is too much to listen to for anyone to narrow down what music they "like" to only one style of music.

not taking into account the whole idea of what commercial artists do to get on top, (which i do find sad), do you agree that all music has something to offer in our daily lives? Can you appreciate most styles of music and actually listen to the most unsuspecting song, or are you dead set on music that reflects what you play? (which besides the trippyness of all you do, I do see lots of blues in so much of what you do...)

Do you think that a metalhead can listen to the cranberries and not feel like he has to feel embarassed by it?

Hi,

I know you love french singers Serge Gainsbourg and Brigitte Fontaine, so i wonder if you know another french major artist called Alain Bashung who worked with people like Arto Lindsay, M. Ward, Adrian Utley, Marc Ribot, Link Wray, Sonny Landreth, Steve Nieve, or Gainsbourg & Fontaine etc.

His 1998 disc "Fantaisie Militaire" his regarded as the best album done in France since Gainsbourg's "Story of Melody Nelson".

Can't you dudes please add a date in Belgium? I've seen every show since 1991, and know I simply couldn't get a ticket because the i-sales couldn't handle it. I'm not easily put down, but now I am.

Can you come In Lyon Nuits de Fourvières in 2010 or 2011, it's a Roman THeatre and you will enjoy playing in it! It's in the middle of the town where i passed all my childhood. I'll love if you could come!
I'll write a book about that if you do it

Thurston Moore, I had a dream about you last night. You were at my house and teaching me how to play guitar, like you had quite a few of them at my house, and left them here while you went on tour, and told me you would come back at a later time to teach me more advanced techniques. Do you wanna make this a reality for me?

Could anyone help us with providing an e-mail to get in touch with Lee ?

I'd understand if you cannot give his e-mail on the forum.
Please send me a private message to my address :

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards,

Clara & Sandra

on 'leaky lifeboat' there's a couple of sun ra albums mentioned in the lyrics ('my brother the wind' and 'fate in a pleasant mood'). i take it gregory corso, who the song is dedicated to, is a sun ra fan. so who is gregory corso? am i the first person to notice this? if so, what do i win?

My question is for Thurston & Kim.
How have you guys managed to stay together for so long?
I really look up to that kind of love between two people. Especially in a society that has forgotten how to keep loving each other over the years and turns all to often to divorce leading to broken homes. Yall are famous. You don't see very many famous people in particular that can even make it through 2 years together. And your'e Rock Stars! I have been with my highschool sweetheart for 15 years now, and I have to say I am more in love than the day I met him. Despite the fact that he is a stupid asshole & I am a crazy bitch.
Thanks for giving me a look at Real Love. It's a tough ride but there is no other as exciting!

thats what "OR" (the last song on rather ripped) is about.
