Beginning with a legendary version of "Silver Rocket" on Night Music in 1989, Sonic Youth appeared on a number of television programs over the years to promote their records. Generally they appeared on late night shows, performing one song at an afternoon taping that aired later that evening. Sometimes they would film an entire set before an audience that would be edited down for broadcast at a later date. Likewise, the band did a number of live-in-studio radio sessions dating back to a 1983 Swiss broadcast, some of which appears on Sonic Death. Sometimes they would pre-tape material like a studio session and it would air at a later date, and sometimes they performed live on air. Click any program title for more information!
