KAPA CONTINENTAL 12-STRING

Used by Lee: 1986-1990

  • 1986 -- GGDDD#D# (Kill Yr Idols, Brother James, Green Light, Flower)
  • 1987 -- GGDDD#D# (Cotton Crown, Stereo Sanctity, Brother James)
  • 1990 -- GGDDD#D# (Stereo Sanctity, Flower)

    NOTES:

  • Another 12-string Kapa guitar, probably used as Lee's GDD# guitar in 1988 and 1989 as well, but I have no video proof.
  • He appears to have the guitar strung up with only six strings: the low E is doubled up with the 2 Gs, and then the "DGBE" strings each have one string (tuned DDD#D#). This guitar is responsible for the behind-the-bridge noise on 'Cotton' and 'Stereo' as they appear on Sister.
  • If you'd like to see pictures of a Continental (not Lee's), check out this site.
  • Red/orange body
  • 1 stapletop pickup in bridge, Dimarzio X2N in neck
  • Black pickguard, later covered in tape
  • Rosewood fretboard
  • 3 knobs
  • Vibrato bar
  • 12-string neck, missing one B tuner
  • Sticker?
